The National Geographic’s 2018 magazine redesign included a new front-of-the-book structure which divided it into three new sections. Proof, Embark, and Explore provide an evolution of the magazine’s unique notion of exploration, and not only of human’s physical boundaries, but also cultural and intellectual ones. Three icons were designed to represent the new sections while accompanying their respective titles for every printed issue.
